Who is in charge of the executive branch?

The President is in charge of the executive branch of the government. This role includes being the head of state and the head of government, as well as serving as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The President is responsible for enforcing the laws enacted by Congress, managing the executive departments and agencies, and making key decisions regarding national policy, foreign affairs, and appointments to the federal judiciary and other key positions.

The Vice President, while an important member of the executive branch and second in command, does not have the overall responsibility for its operations or decision-making. The Chief Justice leads the judicial branch and oversees the court system, while the Speaker of the House is a leader within the legislative branch, responsible for guiding the House of Representatives in lawmaking. Each role has its distinct responsibilities and functions, but it is the President who holds the top position within the executive branch.
